本作で試みられたのは、プログラミングを用い、写真をランダムにクローズアップする手法である。

これにより作者が本来持っている「画面の隅々まで注視している視点」が紙上へと顕在化され、1枚のオリジナル写真は25ページという「細胞」に分割、それらが積層することで、420ページにおよぶ圧倒的な「塊（組織）」となる。

鑑賞者がページをめくり、その断片を脳内で繋ぎ合わせてしまう所作によって、そこへ「心理的なノイズ」が混入する。広がるイメージを彷徨いながら、画家ピーテル・ブリューゲルの絵画のように、あらゆる場所から無数の場面が立ち上がる。

写真そのものが構造を変え「変容していくプロセス」は、420ページの物質『Cell metamorphose』としてパッケージされている。

What is attempted in this work is a method of randomly zooming into photographs through programming.

Through this method, the artist’s inherent gaze — one that attends to every corner of the image — is made manifest on the page. A single original photograph is divided into 25 pages as “cells,” and through their accumulation, they form an overwhelming “mass” or “organism” spanning 420 pages.

As the viewer turns the pages and mentally reconnects these fragments, “psychological noise” enters the work. While wandering through the expanding image, countless scenes emerge from every corner, much like in the paintings of Pieter Bruegel.

The process by which the photograph itself changes its structure and undergoes transformation is packaged here as the 420-page material object, Cell metamorphose.

大野真人 | Makoto Oono

日本人写真家、1979年千葉県生まれ。インターネット上で売買されている生物たちを集め、飼育と観察をすることで写真化した作品『SEPARATE HIDDEN RULES』によって、2016年JAPAN PHOTO AWARD受賞。 東京を拠点としながら自費出版の写真集の発行や、海外での滞在制作や展示発表をしている。 現在製作中の作品『Contrast A』では、混沌とした文明と文化が残るアジアの都市において人間が他の種をどのように扱っているかを調査し即興的なセットアップ技術を駆使することで、「皮肉」と「愛撫」にさらされた生き物の変化する状況を、美しく複雑な文脈の中で明らかにしている。 近年では PhMuseum Photography Grant Main Prize Shortlist 2024(イタリア)、LensCulture Emerging Talent Awards Winner 2024(オランダ)、Getxo Photo Open Call Shortlist 2025(スペイン)、Phest LEICA PRIZE 2023(イタリア)など受賞している。
